Hi, I’m Violet and I’m a design researcher and UX strategist based in Toronto, Canada.
Whether facilitating a discovery session, synthesizing research findings, or stage managing a UX conference, I thrive in situations where harmony, delight and flow are used to measure success. I see this realized in my work as a UX professional, occasional event producer and DJ.
Over the past 8 years, I have used a healthy mix of interaction design, visual thinking and UX research skills to co-create human-friendly experiences for national media organizations, UX consultancies and SaaS companies. Most recently, I have applied my expertise in design thinking, facilitation and qualitative research to help organizations cultivate a human-centred and data-driven mindset.
I am driven by a curious, playful and analytical nature, so becoming a design researcher/UX strategist was pretty inevitable. My process is informed by a BA in Economics, a post-grad certificate in Interactive Digital Media and professional experience as a graphic designer. As a dedicated “life-time learner” my skill set has been honed by studying with some of the top minds in design strategy and UX Research (including Dave Gray, Cyd Harrel, Erika Hall, Jared Spool, Kate Towsey and Luke Wroblewski).
In addition to being a devoted champion of “the user experience”, I really enjoy helping people connect, learn new skills and enjoy life. I am especially inspired by projects which propel storytellers, social good, scrappy underdogs and win-win scenarios.
I’m my spare time, you might find me shaping clay, teaching my cat Zoot tricks, mentoring up and coming talent or searching for music that moves me.
